FormatMagician Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026 · Applies to version 2.0.0 and later
Products covered: this policy covers both products published by Format Magician Studio — FormatMagician (offline file converter) and Batch Print Assistant (batch printing with automatic billing). Both follow the same privacy standard.
In one sentence: FormatMagician is an offline tool. Files you drop into it are processed only on your own computer. The app does not read, upload, or back up any file content, and it does not collect your usage behaviour.

1. What we do not collect

FormatMagician contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no profiling modules. The following is never collected:

2. Conversion happens entirely on your machine

All format conversion, image compression, and document checking is executed by a conversion engine bundled with the installer. The process makes no network requests. The app completes every conversion function with the network disconnected, which is in itself a way to verify the statement above.

3. The only cases where the app goes online

SituationData transmitted
You enter a licence key to unlock full functionality A machine code derived from local hardware information (it cannot be reversed into your hardware details) and the licence key itself, used to bind the licence to this computer
You check your licence status after buying outside the app Order number and machine code, to confirm the purchase and retrieve the licence
The app checks for updates The current version number. No personal information

If you never activate the app and never agree to update checks, it makes no network connection at all. The guarantee that file contents are never uploaded holds in every case.

4. Data stored only on your computer

This data exists only on your computer. You can delete it yourself after uninstalling. We cannot access it.

5. Third-party components

The open-source conversion components bundled with the app are local runtime libraries. They do not connect to the network and do not report data. The full list and licences are in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md in the installation directory. The interface is rendered using Microsoft Edge WebView2, whose data handling follows Microsoft's privacy statement.

6. Installing from Microsoft Store

If you get the app from Microsoft Store, installation and updates are handled by the Store, and related data handling follows Microsoft's privacy statement. The Store provides developers with aggregated statistics that contain no personally identifiable information, such as download and crash counts. The app itself sends no runtime data back to the developer.

7. Children's privacy

This software is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children — in practice it collects no information from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the change will be noted in the app's release notes and the date at the top of this page will be updated. Any change that would broaden data collection will be announced prominently before it takes effect.

9. Contact
